Peaked mantels (circa 1860 to 1880)

They were sometimes produced with classical elements and sometimes with decorative period details. Half of their appearance in millwork catalogs was in 1869, with scattered appearances later. The three types of shelves associated with peaked mantels were shelves A, B, and E. The example shown here has shelf E. |
