Trenton Doors #1Seth Hinshaw, 4/10/2019 While I was in Trenton recently, I took some images of historic doors along State Street near the capitol building. Most of these doors date to the late nineteenth century. Be sure to check out my book A Field Guide to American Residential Doors for more details. This is an Italianate door on the north side of the street. The type of arched headed surround indicates that the entrance was constructed circa 1875. The two-leaf door system includes arched headed upper panels that are commonly found on Italianate doors. Doors with clipped corner panels were particularly common in the 1870s too but were also found on some Italianate doors of the 1860s. |
