The swivel lock was a type of sash fastener produced from 1887 to 1911. It was designed with a two-part casing and a swinging arm attached to the part of the casing attached to the lower sash. A tab on the end of the swinging arm operated a rotating lock that was hidden from view inside the casing. Throughout its period of production, hardware catalogs offered both plain and decorated versions of the swivel lock.
